Supermodel Adriana Lima accepted a big gift on her birthday last weekend—an engagement ring from boyfriend basketball star Marko Jaric, reports People Magazine.

“He asked and she said yes. They are both incredibly happy and couldn't be more in love,” says Lima’s publicist James Weir.

The Brazilian model turned 27 on Thursday and she and her fiancé, who plays for the Minnesota Timberwolves, have been dating for about nine months.

“I was not the person to fall in love easily. I am a difficult person from that standpoint,” Jaric told People magazine back in March. “Now, it's a little different situation.”

The marriage will be the first for both.

This story is related to 1 Boy and his Mother

My mother had only one eye,

I hated her as I was ashamed of her

She was a cook in the school cafeteria where I studied.

One day, when I saw still in a primary class,

She came to visit me to see for herself that I was all right.

I was very upset, how dare she do this to me?

After that incident I ignored her & looked on her

Only with hateful eyes….

The next day, a fellow-student told me,

“oohhh, your mother has only one eye!”

At that moment, I wanted to crawl under the floor

And that my mother would be out of my life completely.

The next day I went to meet her & to tell here:

“ because of you I am the joke at school,

Why don’t you die and go away!?

But, she did not respond….

I wasn’t thinking and did not know what I was saying,

I was very angry.

I could not imagine

How she would react to my remarks.

And, I left town.

I studied relentlessly and obtained a scholarship

to continue my studies abroad.

In fact, I completed my studies, got married, bought a house and set up my family.

I lived a happy and a peaceful life.

One day, my mother comes to visit me.

It has been many years since she had disappeared,

She had never met here grand-children.

She remained at the doorstep

While my children were making fun of her

I shouted at her: “ How date you come all the way here and frighten my kids?!

With a calm voice she responded:

“I apologize, I am at the wrong address.”

And she disappeared.

One day, I received an invitation from my hometown school to attend a reunion under the “ close family ties “ topic

I lied to my wife and made her believe that

I was traveling for business.

After the reunion I stopped by the house

where I grew up

The neighbours informed me that

my mother had passed away.

I did not shed even one drop of tear!!!

The neighbor handed me a letter

that my mother had left for me

“My Dear son, I always thought of you.”

I regret having visited you abroad

And frightened your kids

…I was very pleased when I heard that

you would come to attend the reunion

…The only thing was that I could not get up

from my bed to come and see you….

…I am broken-hearted that I brought

shame to you on numerous occasions…

…Did you know that when you were a baby

you had an accident and lost your one eye?...

… and, as any other mother would,

I would not let you grow up with only one eye….

I was very proud and happy to know that my son would be able to see the world with my eye

Julia Alexandratou was born on November 24, 1986 to a father who hails from Kefalonia, named Zisimos Alexandratos and a mother who hails from London, England, named Allison Hunt-Alexandratou. Her father is a highly-educated mechanical engineer, while her mother is a former model. She also has a sister three years her senior, Artemis Alexandratou.

From a very young age, Julia's beauty and talent were revealed. Along with her mother, she modeled in numerous magazines and children's fashion ads. She has modelled since the age of 4 and has also participated and won in countless pageants. At age 7, she was enrolled in ballet lessons, and later on in vocal and acting training, and she exhibited great potential. Julia was considered to be the favorite to win the competition, as the judges had all given her all perfect 10 points in all four rounds of the competition, a first ever in the entire history of the pageant, and still to date. Julia also made history on the night of the semi-finals, where she was awarded both of the 'special awards': a crown for 'Miss Diva', and then another prixe of a pearl necklace for 'Miss Lux'. One contestant being the recipient of both titles had never occurred before. However, at the end of the semi-finals Julia seemed to be uncomfortable with some of the arrangements, and had mad a facial gesture after receiving both titles. One the night of the finals, she remained the favourite and maintained perfect scores, but in the time period where the judges had given their opinions, actor Kostas Sommer had responded I think it's obvious that number 9 [Julia Alexandratou], has definitely been distinguished from the rest of the ladies, except for certain behavioral issues. Sommer's comment was later castigated by the Greek media, as soon after, Julia lost the first title to Olympia Hopsonidou winning Miss B' Star Hellas. Soon after the event, the Greek network Antenna that had held it, and its producers received much harsh criticism for 'robbing' Alexandratou of the title, and it was often thought to be a publicity stunt by the network.

After the competition, Alexandratou had exclaimed I've worn a lot of crowns in my life. I really didn't need another one. Many people took this as ego, but Julia had later expressed that what she meant was that I like the work of a model but I am not crazy about it, and that she was eager to pusrue other things. Julia was to participate in the Miss International pageant in Tokyo, Japan, but she did not, supposedly due to budget cuts, or her own will.

Julia made her first appearance after the competition on a live show of Fame Story4, and was a guest singer the Greek song titled "Mono Yia Sena" ("Only For You") by former Fame Story3 contestant Andreas Constantinidis, which was featured as the first single on his debut album and she also appeared in the video clip. The song became one of the biggest hits of the whole year and also had great success on the video charts, ringtones, and download charts. After her participation, she was frequently questioned if she was going to pursue a career in music. A few months later, Julia was a co-host to the hit show Megalicious Chart Live! alongside Mad TV presenter Themis Georgandas. She did many television appearances, and in the course of one year, did over 10 magazine covers on magazines such as Nitro, Diva, and Celebrity. Losing the pageant seemed to have sky-rocketed her fame, and the publicity seemed to never end for the youg artist.
